SHRI KODIKUNNIL SURESH (ADOOR): There is a persistent demand from the people of Kerala for 24 hour operation of Trivandrum International Airport. This is the only International Airport in the country which is not operating round the clock.
From Cochin Airport only one flight operates during the night time, but it has been made 24 hours operational.
There are 91 flights weekly operating from Trivandrum Airport. Recently, Air India has withdrawn 17 flights from Trivandrum without any reason. I demand that these may be restored.
Several Airlines have requested for making Trivandrum International Airport operational for 24 hours, SIL Airlines being one of them.
Several Airlines like Saudi Airlines, Lufthansa, Emirates have requested to operate their flights from Trivandrum. They are not being allowed to operate their flights from there. So, necessary permission may be given to these Airlines to operate their flights from Trivandrum.
Also International flight services should be linked with Calicut-Cochin-Trivandrum.
